Maryland Basketball: Maryland vs UVA - Freshmen - 1971 The word was that this Freshmen team beat the varsity squad in scrimmage. Lefty had gone out and brought in successive major recruiting classes to the team, and this freshmen class was the biggest of those hauls. Some of the players turned out to be all time Maryland greats, and some of the players, for one reason or another, did not. This freshmen team includes: Tom McMillen Jap Trimble Rich Porac Mark Cartwright Darrel Brown I don't see Len Elmore. Perhaps he was injured and didn't play.
