Solivagant Jules's video: How to camp and backpack Tatra National Park

@How to camp and backpack Tatra National Park
Backpacking & camping in Poland is very easy and low intensive in preparation AND there are a few things that you might not expect 🏔️ Please buy a map locally, and do some reading on each trail before you go. It’s easy to make a loose plan in this park, but there are some “trails” that are actually climbing routes where you should definitely have a harness especially if you’re carrying a backpack. One example is Orla Perć. It says it’s a hard trail on some maps but do not let it fool you. If you do not have climbing experience with the partner(s) you’re hiking with, do not attempt this route. 🏔️ Camping is actually illegal, don’t be that guy. There are many mountain refuges, think hostel style, where you pay a minimal fee to sleep on a cot or on the ground. Bring your sleeping bag and pillow, but leave your tent at home. There are also showers 🤪 honestly the boujee at backpacking experience ever. 🏔️ Bring cash. Many of the refuges don’t take cards, but there are also kitchens where you can buy fresh homemade meals (for cash). I love my stove and cooking my own meals but it’s nice to step into someone making my dinner for me after a long day. It makes your early mornings worth it. There is also a fee to get into the park. 🏔️ Most of the mountain huts have their own kitchens too. Many people leave food behind in a communal box that is free to others. If you take from one of these, be sure to pay it forward. 🏔️ Start at 3-4am if you’re serious about making miles and beating the crowds. More trafficked trails like to Rysy can turn into long lines going up the mountain. Be courteous to each other. 🏔️ Water is easy to get from huts. No need for a primary water filter (I always carry backup purifying tablets) because you’re going to stay on trail 😉 🏔️ When climbing on trails that have chains installed, please remember that only one person should be on one chain at a time. You don’t want to throw another human off balance and possibly tumbling down the mountain. 🏔️ Be ready for weather changes, bring rain gear. 🏔️ I saw a lot of human waste on trails so don’t add to that issue, please. Learn how to bury your own waste. 🏔️ Have fun!
