The West Coast Railways charter steam train trip came to Carlisle from York, via the Settle to Carlisle line, with steam loco haulage from Hellifield by LMS Stanier Class 8F no 48151. Seen here is the loco arriving backwards from Carnforth to Hellifield, where a little manoevring put the loco back in front of its support coach, and then parked in readiness for the train arriving from York and Leeds. At this point the diesel would be swapped for the steam loco, but I travelled to Settle to watch it moving a little faster. Finally I recorded the train leaving Carlisle later that afternoon back to Hellifield then finally York.
