LMS Princess Coronation Class 4-6-2 no 6233 'Duchess Of Sutherland' in her new crimson lake livery brought the 'York Yuletide Express' charter train from London Ealing Broadway to York . This was the first time the Duchess has hauled a charter train in her crimson livery for many years, and its first main line outing this year after its overhaul. LNER A4 class 4-6-2 no 60009 'Union of South Africa' took the train back from York to London. This is one of the last trips by 'No 9' which will be permanently withdrawn in April 2019. Here we see 60009 moving from York National Railway Museum to the Holgate sidings ready for the return trip. 6233 arrives, and parks itself under the footbridge! Later 6233 brings the empty coaches back to the station for the return trip, and after a long wait in the cold as it gets dark, 60009 arrives for the return trip. There were lots of people at York Station to view this, many of whom wanted to stand right in front of me!
