Julian Thurgood's video: Farewell Alan Pegler - 13th October 2018 - 60103 Flying Scotsman - York

A special trip organised as a final journey to honour Alan Pegler, the man who bought Flying Scotsman from British Railways and saved her from the scrapyard. Sadly he passed away in 2012 and so never lived to see Flying Scotsman’s renovation and return to main line running. The loco with which he will forever be associated, is taking the trip down the East Coast Main Line from London Kings Cross to York, and as Alan requested, his ashes will be scattered in the firebox as his beloved loco climbs hard up Stoke Bank. This trip was steam hauled from London Kings Cross to York, and diesel hauled on the return.
