Caleb: What if I told you that Rick used morties mind blowers for more than to just erase embarrassing memories? Hey there theorists, my name is Caleb and im the Happily Ever After Theorist and today I am going to share with you a theory that I teamed up with by fellow theorycrafter and youtuber Geo On to create. So onward with the theory. Rick and Morty season 3 has been wrapped up for awhile now, but I started thinking about the episode Morties Mind Blowers. I posed this question to Caleb, could there possibly be hidden reason to why Rick is altering and removing memories from Morty? Obviously he uses the logic that he removes things Morty wants to forget, and that he removes things that he is embarrassed by, like the time he said take it for granite. (Roll a quick clip of that.) But what else could be going on here? So I started to ponder this. My immediate thought was pretty straight forward. Rick wants morty to always go on adventures with him, but naturally Morty has other interests he would want to pursue. Rick can keep morty excited to go adventuring with him if he A. Makes morty forget his other interests, and B. Makes morty forget anything that would make him not want to go such as embarrassments or things that anger him. I think most people probably derived this from the episode after a couple viewings. However, I wanted to continue exploring alternative reasons. The prevention of another Evil Morty. From the fandom wiki " When Evil Morty was first seen, little was shown about him, but he stated that it is impossible for a Morty to defeat a Rick. In the episode, it was revealed that he was controlling his Rick and it was possibly his idea to capture Mortys in order to hide himself from the Citadel of Ricks. Unlike other Mortys, Evil Morty speaks in a serious, monotone voice, and lacks a stutter in his speech. Evil Morty's ability to control Evil Rick and become a president both show that, in terms of logical intelligence (as opposed to emotional intelligence), he is much smarter than the average Morty. When Evil Rick noticed Rick C-137 crying over his memories, he taunts him by saying that Ricks do not care about Mortys. Since Evil Morty was controlling Evil Rick, this suggests that Evil Morty believes all Ricks treat their Mortys like disposable and replaceable objects." Perhaps the main reason Rick tampers with Mortys mind is to limit his knowledge, remove any animosity towards Rick, and to ultimately keep any evil seeds that have been planted from ever growing and manifesting. provide any additional thoughts you would like to add.
