A 24-year-old assistant packing manager, Omkar Pote, severed his middle finger while working on a fruit feeder machine at an ice cream factory in Malad. The machine, used to crush ingredients like cashews and almonds for ice cream, malfunctioned when the lid of the ingredient container fell inside. Despite claims that the finger found in an ice cream cone did not match the severity of Pote’s injury, the police are investigating. Blood samples were taken to match Pote’s DNA with the severed finger found in the cone. The incident occurred on May 11, the day the cone was manufactured. The parent company of Yummo Ice Cream, Walko Food Co Ltd, sources their ice cream from different third-party manufacturers in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
