Hiking Gear for 1 Month in the Wilderness Discussing the outfit I took with me on a recent 4-week unsupported backpacking expedition on Newfoundland's Great Northern Peninsula. A vast, untamed area of wilderness that Saku and I explored for 215km. We were surrounded by plentiful wildlife (Moose, Caribou, Black Bear, Geese, Ducks, Ptarmigan, Grouse, Fish etc.) and striking rugged mysterious peaceful landscapes but not a single human did we see or hear.
