K M's video: Most Viewed MVs from the 3 Biggest BGs GGs 2ND 3RD GEN

@Most Viewed MVs from the 3 Biggest BGs & GGs (2ND & 3RD GEN)
Description: Release Date refers to when the music video was released on Youtube. How The Video Works: This is a list of the most viewed music videos from the top 3 boy groups & girl groups of the 2nd and 3rd generation of Kpop. The top 100 music videos were put into this video in 10 second clips. I did not include soloist from the groups or comeback trailers. Only songs released by the actual group, a subunit, or a subgroup of the group were recorded. 2nd Generation: Boy Groups - 2PM, BIGBANG, & Super Junior. Girl Groups - 2NE1, Girls’ Generation, & Wonder Girls. 3rd Generation: Boy Groups - BTS, EXO, GOT7. Girl Groups - BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, Twice. If you want to know how I separate the generations of Kpop, I do it very similarly to this clip from KBS’ “The Unit”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvwtyGGxwlg -90's and before: 1st generation -Early 2000's: Soloist takeover -Mid 2000's: 2nd generation -2010's: 3rd Generation Even though TVXQ were in the second generation, in my opinion they were still considered founding members of the Korean boy group scene, because they revived the group trend after the soloist takeover in the early 2000’s. For me personally whenever I hear of the top 3 boy groups from the 2nd generation I always here about the ones who were popular during/responsible for the hallyu wave which was BIGBANG, Super Junior, and 2PM. TVXQ are legends in Asia, but they’ve never had an insane amount of support from anywhere else. 2PM however cannot appear on this list because their most viewed music video is “HANDS UP” which only has 51 million views. However this does not mean that they were not popular. In the late 2000’s and early 2010’s having music videos that had over 10 million views was really good, but since then views have increased on music videos dramatically and now groups can get 100 million views in a few days. Please keep in mind when watching the video that the reason the newer groups can get so many views is because they have a lot more exposure. They are not necessarily better than older groups just because they have more views. Older groups relied on physical album sales during the early days of Kpop, but now physical album sales are basically non-existent unless its a super popular group with a huge Asian following. Kpop groups now a days with a mainly western fanbase can run into trouble because overseas fans almost never buy albums due to digital downloading, so a lot of groups now a days rely on digital downloads, or even AD revenue from Youtube. -a huge reason physical album sales are even still a thing in Asia is because that’s the only way to get into fansigns in Korea. You have to buy the album during a certain time to be eligible to attend, winners are announced usually the night before the event. So what a lot of fans do is buy 100’s of albums during that time in hopes of winning, which drives the physical sales up- Please be respectful in the comments and don’t disrespectfully compare groups. Every group on this list is amazing and have put out insanely good music, lets just enjoy it. All viewcounts were taken down July 24. if you wish to learn more about the groups on this chart you can see their profiles on my website http://kpopmaknae.weebly.com
