K2M Photography's video: Mineola Fire Department House Fire - Cleveland Avenue 3-12-23

In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 12th, 2023, the Mineola Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Cleveland Avenue between Willis Avenue and Mineola Boulevard. As units were on the way they were advised by Fire Com that they were responding to a 911 call reporting smoke in the house. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a fire on the first floor of a two and a half story, two family private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid requested. As firefighters began stretching upon the residence fire started to extend to the second floor and attic. Firefighters also encountered a collapse of the floor on the first level of the home. This condition paired with the heavy fire load led firefighters to utilize an exterior operation for a brief time until conditions allowed them to go interior. Mineola Ladder 168 was put into operation alongside multiple hand lines that were placed on different sides of the structure. The occupants on the right side of the building were able to safely evacuate with the left side vacant at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Mineola Chief of Department Andrew Martone Jr. [1600].
