K2M Photography's video: A Night for Lou 9-13-19

@A Night for Lou [9-13-19]
On the evening of Friday, September 13th, 2019 “A Night for Lou” was held to remember the life of retired NYPD Bomb Squad Detective Lou Alvarez – an Oceanside native who passed away in June of 2019 after battling 9/11 related cancer. Lou was not only known for his own fight with cancer but fighting to ensure other 9/11 responders would be taken care of. This meant traveling to Washington D.C. [with comedian Jon Stewart] to advocate for future funding despite dozens of rounds of chemotherapy. These efforts proved successful when one month after Lou’s passing the president signed the 9/11 victim’s compensation fund bill which extends funding for 9/11 responders until the year 2090. At the Friday evening candlelight vigil hundreds from the Oceanside community attended along with several dignitaries and members of the Oceanside Fire Department. The event was held at Schoolhouse Green – opposite Oceanside Fire Headquarters. Multiple people spoke before those present including Lou’s brother Phil and Councilman Anthony D’Esposito.
