K2M Photography's video: Floral Park Fire Department Building Fire Covert Avenue 9-27-20

In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 27th, 2020 the Floral Park Fire Department was called to a building fire [smoke from the building] at Park Place – a restaurant located in a one-story taxpayer on Covert Avenue between Beverly and Marshall Avenues. As fire department units were responding they were told by Nassau County Fire Communications that several calls were being received reporting a fire at the location. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with heavy fire at the rear of the restaurant. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted with the transmission of a second alarm quickly following. The fire went on to reach a multiple alarm equivalency and took several hours to bring under control. Firefighter’s efforts were hampered by aged building construction, natural gas fed fire, the inability to shut off the gas, and other obstacles. Various fire departments from across the county were mutual aided to the scene or to standby during the operation. Multiple businesses were destroyed by the fire; however, there were no serious injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
