K2M Photography's video: Oceanside FD House Fire Southard Avenue 4-11-19

Late on the night of Thursday, April 11th, 2019 the Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Southard Avenue between Allen Avenue and Nassau Parkway. Multiple calls were being received reporting the fire including an ambulance at nearby South Nassau Communities Hospital reporting visible smoke and flames. As a result, Oceanside Fire Dispatch advised the first units on the road that they were going to work. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a fully involved one and a half story private dwelling – approximately twenty feet by forty feet. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted in Oceanside for the second time in nearly twenty-seven hours. Oceanside Terrace Engine 248 was the first engine company to arrive on scene. Due to the heavy fire load the first hand line stretched was a two and a half inch – one of at least three hand lines that were stretched. Among the departments called for mutual aid were Baldwin, Freeport, Long Beach, and Island Park. There was no death or serious injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Oceanside Ex-Chief Kevin Klein [241-13].
