Jarrett Hurd was born August 31, 1990 in Accokeek, Maryland. He is an American professional boxer. Hurd was raised in the suburbs of Accokeek, a town with household yearly income of $126,000. Not the typical place you would look for the next boxing legend. Hurd graduated from Gwynn Park High School. Hurd was 15 when his father, Fred Hurd Sr., brought him to Hillcrest Boxing Gym in Temple Hills. Hurd on his start in boxing: My father first put me in the ring to learn how to defend myself. I was 15-years-old and didn’t really know how to fight. I took to it quickly though and it was obviously one of the best things that ever happened to me. Fred thought Jarrett could be special the first time he stepped into a ring for a sparring session. Hurd’s sparring partner was none other than Capital Heights featherweight Gary Russell Jr. Who currently holds the WBC featherweight title with a record of 30-1 18 by weigh of knockout.
