KMD's video: Ullam Thedaathe Enru Solludhe - Edhayum Thaangum Idhayam 1962

Sung by K.R.Ramasami & S.Janaki Lyrics by Aathmanathan Music by T.R.Papa 'edhayum thaangum idhayam' (1962/ Udhayasooriyan Productions) was based on a story by G.Balasubramaniam. The story revolved around the two sons of a rich landlord: Kannayiram, the legal heir and Madasami, born out of wedlock. SSR played the fiery Madasami, while K.R.Ramasami played the good-natured Kannayiram. Muthuraman (ridiculously and ineptly made up to look older!) played their father. Vijayakumari, Chandrakantha, M.R.Radha, B.S.Saroja, M.S.S. Bhagiyam and OAK Thevar were the others in the cast. As the title suggests, screenplay and dialogues were by C.N.Annadurai, and the film was directed by P.Neelakantan. T.R.Papa had earlier composed music for Anna's celluloid ventures like rangOn radha (1956), thaai magaLukku kattiya thaali (1959) and nallavan vaazhvaan (1961), besides many of the films scripted by Karunanidhi, and he had filled them with wonderful songs. For edhayum thaangum idhayam, Papa extracted lyrics from a galaxy of lyricists: Pattukkottai Kalyanasundaram, A.
