KPKinteractive sat down with Sister Louisa’s Church of The Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium’s founder/owner, Grant Henry, to get the inside scoop on the impetus behind his quirky, popular Atlanta bar in the thriving Edgewood area. Grant Henry, aka Sister Louisa, calls himself The Happiest Man Alive because he’s doing what he loves. Henry, a native of the South who got pretty far in his quest to a Masters in Divinity and Pastoral Care, after degrees in Hospitality and Education, expresses himself authentically at Sister Louisa’s where patrons come for ping pong tournaments, karaoke nights and the eye-popping array of art for sale. Be warned; it’s not for those who might be offended by profanity and political views layered over velvet Jesus paintings. Sister Louisa’s clearly represents Henry’s political and religious feelings but remains a cornerstone of economic development in Edgewood, near downtown Atlanta, where its popularity drew other restaurants, bars, and dwellers to the area. There’s now a Sister Louisa’s in Athens and a Sister Louisa’s retreat planned in Gay, Georgia.
