On April 3, 1984, a young man created history by becoming the first Indian to fly in space, along with Russia's Yury Malyshev and Gennady Strekalov on the Soyuz T-11. Though Aamir denied reports of doing a movie, we still want to tell you about the man who travelled into space at 35, the first Indian and the 128th human to do so. Born on January 13, 1949 in Punjab, Sharma is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy. He joined the Indian Air Force as a test pilot in 1970. He was in-charge of 21 combat missions in a MiG-21 in the Bangladesh war of 1971.  September 20, 1982, he (extreme left, row 1) was selected to fly to space as part of a joint venture between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Soviet Intercosmos space programme. He learnt to speak Russian during his time in Russia. space. While he was in space, he practiced the revolutionary 'zero gravity yoga' which was later appreciated by the Rocosmos. Later, Sharma himself advised astronauts to practice yoga to deal with space sickness.
