Gujarat is all set to embrace the moto of G20 India- “One Earth, One Family, One Future” in its International Kite Festival 2023. The festival commenced on Sunday, 8th January, and will continue till 14th January 2023. Gujarat CM, Bhupendra Patel officially opened the festival in Ahmedabad. Other Ministers were also present on the occasion. The festival is being organized by the Gujarat Tourism department and after a two-year halt due to the pandemic, the festival is back, and it has made everyone excited and joyful. The festival features visitors from all around the world. Around 800 kite flyers from India and around the world are expected to attend the festival and display their distinctive works. Further, this year kite enthusiasts from various countries will fly kites at the same time in an attempt to create a World Record for the maximum number of kite flyers. One of the main events of the festival was a special procession that included representatives from India and other nations, including Argentina, Israel, Australia, and Portugal among others. In addition, a theme pavilion portraying the history of kites, and workshops on making kites are among the key attraction points of the festival this year. The festival will take place in various locations across the state, namely Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Somnath, Vadodara, Vadanagar, Kevadiya, Dwarka, Dholera and Dhordo. The event commemorates the days in the Hindu calendar, known as Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan when winter starts to give way to summer. Makar Sankranti will fall on January 14th of this year. Flying the G20 India kite high The G20 celebrations in India have evolved into a singular event where the entire nation is bonded by oneness and is celebrating G20 across the length and breadth of the country. With meetings and conferences being conducted throughout the states and cities the G20 has given India the opportunity to showcase its diverse treasure of cultural heritage. Given that the G20 represents 60% of the world’s population and 85% of the world’s GDP, it is a great opportunity to highlight India’s expanding technological prowess and rising global stature, as well as its 28 States and 8 Union Territories’ unity in diversity. In addition, the city of joy, Kolkata, is all geared up to host the 1st G20 Meeting of the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion Working Group from January 9 to 11, 2023.
