KatalystProductions's video: Stop HS2 - Meet the Tree Protectors: Jester

Continuing our campaign for & we are posting a series of short films profiling the extremely brave and committed & at Denham Ford environmental protection camp in the Colne Valley, West London, which we filmed back in the summer of 2020 in the UK. HS2 is a rail project (given approval by Boris Johnson’s cabinet) that in its 120 year lifetime won't ever be carbon neutral and has to date decimated over 116 hectares of trees - the equivalent of around 290 football fields. Around 15 hectares of that is believed to be around 108 ancient woodlands that have either already been decimated or are about to be. It has been billed as the “biggest deforestation project in the UK since World War I” by conservationist Chris Packham. This really is the UK’s . Many of the protectors living and visiting Denham camp are young climate activists – those who will be most affected by the climate crisis to come. They really are living on the in the UK. This film fetures “Jester” who visited protecting the trees under threat there, and engaging in actions to try and slow down the processing of the felled trees – by swimming in the canal. He argues that “we’re past the point of emergency – it’s damage control now.” They are standing up for the trees – will you stand up too?
