Kathleen Darby's video: The Last Sunflower Animation Installation UO Art and Technology BFA Portland

@The Last Sunflower Animation Installation | UO Art and Technology BFA Portland
Video shown in the Sunny Side UP BFA Thesis Exhibition at the White Box Gallery (in the Grey Box 4-wall video installation room) in Portland, OR. Show ran from June 2–July 2nd 2016. Artist Statement: In my work, The Last Sunflower, I was inspired to create an animation based off of some of my earlier print work. At the time when I made the linocut Ostrich Necks, and the woodblock print The Last Sunflower, I thought the prints had similar tones and possibly belonged to a greater narrative. Envisioning the two pieces as part of the same story and I chose to give life by animating the prints. Like a lot of my work this piece switches between fine and digital medias to create the final product. In this case I retained aesthetics from the physical print in the digital work. I did this by vectoring the original to create illustrator strokes I then drew the digital animation with. This piece was also my first animation created using Adobe After Effects.
