KdawgCrazy Outdoors's video: Day 3 of 3 - Epic Backpacking Trip Around Harney Peak

@Day 3 of 3 - Epic Backpacking Trip Around Harney Peak
Harney Peak - Black Hills National Forest, SD On Day 3 we took our time and hiked out about a 1/2 mile to the car at the Willow Creek trail head. We did a quick review of Steve's 3 year old Rothco GI type Bivy Tent and we crossed a bridge with plenty of water that day too. Don't forget to watch Day 1 and 2: Day 1 https://youtu.be/fP3bEbUPQNk Day 2 https://youtu.be/MWbCDBIjidI Some of the new gear used in this video: Sea To Summit Nylon Tarp Poncho 59"x104" 13 oz. green Luci EMRG Inflatable Solar Lantern 2.6 oz. with 4 LED's Mountain House Freeze-dried/dehydrated meals used on trip: Chicken and Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Biscuits and Gravy, Breakfast Skillet and... In case anyone is curious about my High Peak USA Aplinizmo Swiftlite tent Size: 85" x 54" x 43" with trail weight: 2 lbs. 4 oz ish using trekking poles, I returned it to Amazon. The seam tape was coming off on the inside in the 2 peaks after only 2 days of use and I woke up to puddles of water on the floor the morning of day 2 after all the nights rain. I'm not sure if the water was from leakage or really bad condensation but I wasn't too impressed with wet gear. Got a full refund and then purchased a 6 Moon Designs Lunar Solo LE. I'll have it out on my next trip. So if you’re out visiting Mount Rushmore, Sylvan Lake or just enjoying the Black Hills and looking for an exciting day hike or something a little more challenging check out the Harney Peak Trail and Lost Cabin Trail . These trails have it all…from Sylvan Lake and the buttes and bluffs to the spires and other granite rock formations along the way to the Fire Tower on the top of Harney Peak. And don't forget the mountain goats, marmots and deer. This trail also connects with several other trail systems like the Centennial Trail and Mount Rushmore, making its trail heads a perfect starting point to many other adventures. For some cool Esbit stoves/cook kits check out https://www.youtube.com/user/FlatCatGear. This guy really knows how to cook. As always I learned a lot of new tips and what not about staying dry, hiking longer and using Esbit. This trail has everything you need from food at the general store by Sylvan Lake, water from a couple year round dependable creeks, wildlife, rock formations and tons of cool sites from the Harney Tower to Sylvan Lake and beyond. I hope you guys enjoyed our 3 day journey and I hope you are able to get out and see these trail in person. See you... on the trail.
