KdawgCrazy Outdoors's video: Winter Bushcraft Hammock Camping Trip Bushcraft Cooking Stew and a Biscuit

@Winter Bushcraft Hammock Camping Trip – Bushcraft Cooking Stew and a Biscuit
In early March 2018 I did one last winter hammock camping trip before the snow melted. I brought along a new stove and pot, the Canway Gasifier Wood Stove and Olicamp AK Cookset, to cook up some bushcraft beef stew and to dry bake a large Bisquick biscuit. Mother Nature surprised me with a beautiful snowy day and greeted me with a snow shower in the morning as well. I hope you enjoy this bushcraft camping trip and don’t forget to Like, Comment and Subscribe! But with the help of Bruce at Nature Calls Backpacking https://www.youtube.com/user/northwestnaturecalls I was able to shorten up that suspension to not only fit into that same camp spot but also fit inside the Warbonnet Superfly tarp with the doors completely closed. Bruce was awesome and made me some amsteel dog bones that are 37.5 inches long (not including the end loops) for the head end. I also bought some 36 inch ones on eBay for the foot end. I wouldn’t go too much shorter than that because it will amplify the tension placed on the spreader pole tips and might damage them. I didn’t know how much snow to expect and brought snow stakes only to find out my camp spot had no snow. Luckily, I had the Silky PocketBoy Saw and Mora Bushcraft Knife to quickly make some wood stakes to get the Warbonnet Superfly tarp set up and get to camp cooking…Beef Stew and a large Bisquick biscuit. I dug up a spot in the snow with the SnowClaw backcountry snow shovel to create a wind break and a place to put down a green wood platform for the wood stove and cook pot. The biscuit and beef stew turned out great. I added too much of the McCormick Slow Cookers Savory Pot Roast seasoning mix…just a little too salty but still better than a Mountain House Meal for sure. I always melt snow for water in the winter to offset the extra pack weight of warmer clothing, winter sleeping bag and shelter but Mother Nature gave me a moldy surprise this time. Since we had snow on the ground for a record number of months and just the right conditions, there was a white webbing of mold on the ground under all the snow. Not a problem though. I was just very careful to not dig down too deep into the snow when collecting it for water and boiled it a little longer than normal. I also used a handkerchief over the top of my Nalgene bottle to filter debris and other crap out of my water. To my surprise the water tasted fine and I never got sick. This is KdawgCrazy.
