The single reached on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986 and on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart. The two Davids here are David Baerwald and David Ricketts. They showed great talent and promise, but turned out to be a one-hit wonder who released only a single album. Their songs addressed the struggles of working class Americans, and this song is very much a part of that, telling the stories of fallen people who somehow go on. Except Ms. Christina... I assumed this was a song about Miami, based on when it was recorded and the subject matter. Miami during the 80's could be viewed as a boomtown, where the economic boom was not caused by mineral strikes, but by the flourishing illegal drug trade.
