It's said he had a whirlwind romance with a beautiful young girl. Star-Crossed though it was labeled, people say he was a dreamer. Legend has it, he reached for the sky, and fell among the stars. It's said that if you look to the sky at night, when the stars twinkle, it's the sparkle in his eyes. And when you see a falling star, it's one he tossed away because it wasn't the one he was looking for... Ok, Ok. It was me, I wrote it. I wrote it almost 40 years ago. I wrote it one night when words spoken got in the way of things that actually mattered. I dated it December 14th, 1981. I thought it might make the world right again, but for reasons of pride or things more foolish, I never sent it. I tucked it in a book and slipped it in a draw where it yet remains some 39 years later. The newspaper told me she married a short time later, and if you wonder why I never threw it away, I'm not sure I know the answer. Maybe I thought their'd be a 'someday, somewhere, over the rainbow'... ...or maybe because it's all I had left.
