Opal and Griffin Koopa are the birth parents of Barron Koopa Opal and Griffin were a sweet couple living a normal life together but when their son was born everything changed. When Opal was expecting to have a baby she was thrilled but when she told her husband the good news he wasn't happy at all. He wasn't ready to be a father to any child and he even started treating his wife horribly and controlling her. Opal couldn't understand why Griffin was behaving like this way. This was supposed to be wonderful thing that they are starting a family but in Griffin's eyes this was a burden. A few days later Opal was holding a newborn baby koopa who hatched from its egg. The baby was a boy who looked like both his parents. Griffin wanted nothing to do with the infant and demanded Opal to give him away. The young mother refused but Griffin starts to make threats to harm the baby or her if she didn't obey him. Opal begins to shake in fear knowing that if anything bad happened to her son, she would never forgive herself so she had to make a hard decision. She sadly agreed to give her son away but she told Griffin that she will never forgive him for being a terrible father and husband. When it was dark at night Griffin and Opal were walking through the forest to find a home to leave the baby koopa in. They found the castle were King Bowser Jr, Queen Inkling Girl, Prince Inkling Jr and Princess Inkura lived. Bowser Jr and Inkling Girl were outside the castle sitting on a hill watching the stars and Griffin and Opal were feet away hiding behind a tree. Opal looked at Griffin if she could have a few minutes to say goodbye to their son. Griffin angrily replied that she had five minutes and he starts walking back to their house. When Opal was alone she looked down at her baby boy sleeping in a basket with tears falling down her face. " I'm so sorry little one, that it had to be this way. I hope one day you can forgive me for not being strong enough for you. You, my sweet baby boy are so precious to me and always will be. I'm sure the king and queen and their children will take good care of you and give you so much love and happiness that me and your father couldn't give. I love you so much. " She kisses her son's forehead and caresses him. The baby coos softly as Opal gently to the basket beside the tree. Then she runs away through the forest to find her husband. More tears run down her face knowing she made a terrible mistake.
