READ IT ON MCXV: https://mcxv.com/you-do-not-own-my-body/ L Y R I C S : I’m taught at a young age that woman give themselves to men that my body is not mine once married but belongs to the single person who asked, “Will you marry me?” That for him to give me his hand in marriage, For him to love me till death do us part, I must now give him my body We’re taught at a young age that a man must ask my father if he could marry me Like my father is my master or that when he says yes, he hands that control over to my husband Across the world, woman are being handed over for marriage, like pawns in a game only to become a subject in earning money for their family See it has been made for centuries that woman are not people but objects bought and used to satisfy a man’s desire But for what do you think I’m worth? Am I merely part of a collection to you or can you see that I am just as deserving as you see yourself? And when you look in the mirror, can you really say that you’re better than me, just because you were born a man, just because you were born with a body different than mine?
