Like most, the scissor sweep was one of the first sweeps I ever learned. And I learned it with the traditional cross collar and sleeve grip. But after watching how Gustavo Batista occasionally modifies the grip configuration, and I started to experiment. What I discovered is this: Using the same side collar grip instead of the cross collar significantly improves the overall control of the position. And that improves the probability that you will either have success with the sweep or lost nothing in the process of going for it.
