It is the auspicious month of Shravan. Shravan is the fifth month of the Hindu calendar and is especially important because not only is it a month full of religious and cultural festivals, like Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Nariyal Poornima, and Nag Panchami, but it also heralds the arrival of the south-west monsoons. The festival brings some Saatvik food which I have tasted in this episode: 1. Phanas Bhaji ( A goan style raw jackfruit preperation) 2. Mooga Gathi ( A delicious sprouted green gram curry) 3. Kairi Urdamethi ( A traditional curry made with raw mango) 4. Toye ( A simple yet delicious dal preparation) 5. Sheet ( Steamed Rice) 6. Kelya Kape ( Banana fritters) 7. Mandgane ( A sweet preparation prepared with bengal gram cooked in coconut milk, sweetened with jaggery and garnished with cashew and raisins) 8. Kesari Bhat or sakhar bhat ( A sweet rice preparation) 9. Panchamrut ( A traditional appetiser typically consumed after food as a digestive. Its like a deconstructed version of the sol kadi, served warm) 10.
