Officers in the Khao Yai National Park Protection Unit in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, rescued an approximately 18–20-year-old blind female gaur, Chaba Kaew, that was stuck in the mud near the park's road ahead of the Toscana Khao Yai Hotel. It took three to four hours before they could assist her. The officers then placed the gaur, in a stall close to the Pa Kradad cliff protection unit to prevent her from wandering further into the mud. They also contacted the veterinarian, who examined, treated, and administered antibiotics to help her recover.
