CWG 2022, Day 4 Highlights: India continued their rich medal haul at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, however, no gold medal was secured on Day 4. Judoka Sushila Devi opened the account on Day 4 after clincing a silver medal in the women's 48kg finals. Soon after her feat, judoka Vijay Yadav secured a bronze medal in the men's 60kg division. The final medal of the day was won by weightlifter Harjinder Kaur, who secured bronze in the women's 71kg finals. Those were the three medals won by India on Day 4 as the tally rises to nine (G-3, S-3, B-3). India also enjoyed an splendid outing in almost all the racket sport. The shuttlers advanced to the finals of the mixed-team event, which saw both PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen win their respective single matches. The men's table-tennis team defeated Nigeria to book a berth in the finals, where they will meet Singapore in the gold medal match. Saurav Ghosal advanced to the semifinals of the men's singles squash event. The women's Lawn Bowls players created history earlier in the day, becoming the first batch to secure India's maiden medal in the sport. Other results of India: BOXING: Amit Panghal, Mohammed Hussamuddin, and Ashish Chaudhary won their respective bouts and advanced to the quarter-finals. SQUASH: Joshanna Chinappa goes down 3-0 in the women's singles quarter-finals against Canada's Hollie Naughton. HOCKEY: India play 4-4 draw against England in men's Pool B match WEIGHTLIFTING: Ajay Singh finishes fourth after missing his final clean and jerk lift at 180kg in men's 81kg category. SWIMMING: Sajan Prakash finishes 7th in his heat in Men's 100m butterfly with a timing of 54.36. Judo: Jasleen Saini goes down against Australia's Nathan Katz in men's 66kg bronze medal match. Suchika Tariyal also lost her bronze medal match in women's 57kg against Mauritius' Christianne Legentil. It was a spectacular outing for the India weightlifters with trailblazer Mirabai Chanu setting the perfect tone at the Commonwealth Games 2022. She secured a gold medal in the women's 49kg weightlifting final, which was also India's first yellow metal in the ongoing edition. Her best lifts were 88kg (snatch) and 113kg (clean and jerk). Sanket Sargar and Bindyarani Devi won silver medals in the men's and women's 55kg weightlifting event. Gururaja Poojary also a weightlifter bagged bronze in the men's 61 kg finals. Boxing: Lovlina Borgohain beats Araine Nicholson by unanimous decision. Badminton: India beat Sri Lanka 5-0, Australia 4-1 in Group A mixed team events Hockey: India women beat Wales 3-1 Table tennis: Indian women's table tennis suffer 3-2 defeat against Malaysia in quarter-finals. Squash: Saurav Ghosal beats Sri Lanka's Shamil Wakeel 3-0 in men's singles round of 32 event. Joshna Chinappa outclasses Barbados Meagan Best 3-0, while 14-year-old Anahat Singh goes down fighting 3-1 in women's singles round of 32.
