Himachal Pradesh vs Mumbai, Final: Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 HP 143/8 (20) MUM 146/7 (19.3) Mumbai won by 3 wickets Man of The Match: Tanush Kotian Sarfaraz Khan and Tanush Kotian starred as Mumbai beat Himachal Pradesh by 3 wickets to win their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Sarfaraz scored 36 runs, while Kotian claimed three wickets as Mumbai beat Himachal Pradesh at the Eden Gardens. Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to field first. Mohit Avasthi provided Mumbai will an early breakthrough, getting rid of Himachal’s wicket-keeping opener Ankush Bains in the second over. Sumeet Verma was the next to walk back to the pavilion as Mumbai piled the pressure on Himachal Pradesh. Prashant Chopra and Nikhil Gangta steadied the ship for Himachal Pradesh, before Tanush Kotian dismissed Gangta for 22 off 14 balls. Kotian then removed Nitin Sharma in his very next ball to put Mumbai back in the driver’s seat. Himachal Pardesh captain Rishi Dhawan couldn’t make much difference to the scoreboard, departing after scoring just one run. Kotian then came back to pick his third wicket of the day, dismissing opener Prashant Chopra, leaving Himachal Pradesh reeling at 58/6 in 9.4 overs. However, Akash Vasisht and Ekant Sen struck a 60-run partnership to steer their side out of trouble. Vasisht scored 25 runs off 22 balls before Aman Hakim Khan dismissed him. Avasthi then claimed his second wicket, getting rid of Sen, who smashed 37 runs in 29 deliveries. Finally, Mayank Dagar scored 22 runs in 12 balls to provide Himachal Pradesh with a final flourish, helping them post 143/8 on the board after 20 overs. In the second innings, Rishi Dhawan dismissed openers Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 37 runs off 28 balls before falling prey to a Mayank Dagar delivery. Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan settled Mumbai’s innings before Iyer was caught and bowled by Vaibhav Arora. Iyer scored 34 runs off 26 deliveries. Shivam Dube was the next to fall and walked back after scoring just 7 runs off 9 balls. Aman Hakim Khan tried to hit some big shots but was dismissed by Vaibhav Arora, who claimed his third wicket of the day. Shams Mulani top-edged a Mayank Dagar delivery as Himachal Pradesh piled on the pressure. But Sarfaraz Khan smashed a six and a boundary in the final two balls of the penultimate over to release all the pressure. Mumbai managed to get six runs in the final over to win the match by 3 wickets. In what was a close encounter, Mumbai overcame Himachal Pradesh at the Eden Gardens to win their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
