The Dinesh Karthik-led side beat Baroda by seven wickets at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, chasing 121 with as many as two overs to spare. The win was set up by the bowlers earlier in the evening, when the spinners used the dry and bouncy Motera surface to good effect and had Baroda reeling at 36 for 6 inside nine overs. At the center of that effort was Manimaran Siddharth, who was playing his first game of the season and returned figures of 4 for 20. The left-arm spinner had ample support from Sai Kishore who continued his outstanding season with a stifling spell that read 4-1-11-0. The introduction of pace for the first time in the form of Sonu Yadav came as some relief to Baroda after 13 overs of spin. Vishnu Solanki and Atit Sheth put on 58 runs for the seventh wicket, the former bringing the 100 up for Baroda in the 19th over with a six off Sonu. Solanki, run out on the penultimate ball of the innings, finished on 55-ball 49 and helped Baroda add 49 runs in the last four overs, 38 off those coming off pace bowling on a pitch getting better for batting by the minute, thanks to dew. Batting all 20 overs and getting to a total of 120/9 was a good effort but it hardly troubled Tamil Nadu's mighty batting line-up. Openers Hari Nishant and N Jagadeesan put on 26 runs in 3.4 overs to set the tone and it was a straightforward chase from thereon. Baroda spinners found it tough to grip the wet ball and the batsmen cashed in. Karthik sped the chase along with his 16-ball 22, Baba Aparajith held one end with 29 not out and Shahrukh Khan finished it in style with a cameo of 18* off 7 balls.
