This is one of several sculptures I made Somboon, a 57 year old female Asian elephant who lives in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. This small sculpture study is made from clay. When Somboon was young she wandered with her mahout begging for food in Bangkok. When she got older she was sold to haul timber. As a result her ears have those typical tears from the sharp branches from this type of work.
