Some of you may have seen the TEDx Talk I did where I shared a secret on the world stage. The title of the talk was ‘You’re Only as Sick as Your Secrets’. For 18 years I kept my secret and it insidiously affected my life in so many ways. I truly believe that our secrets make us sick. Shame is highly correlated with depression, addiction, eating disorders, violence, bullying, and aggression. Those things are what are triggered by us keeping deep seeded shame and secrets. Stigma affects our lives as well. So, how do we move forward? After I did that TEDx Talk, I was inundated with emails from thousands of people from all over the world asking me the same questions; ‘How do I get to that better place?’ and, ‘How can I be brave enough to share my secret?’ Now, not everyone wants to share their secret with millions of people around the world, but we would like to be able to be courageous enough to share our truth, to be seen, by 1 or 2 people who matter to us most. We’re going to figure out how to do healing work! How do we stop numbing? How do we open up with people around us and start the process of disclosing our secrets? Sounds scary, I know, but together we will be able to get through it. Every week we’ll have experts, psychotherapists, and doctors who join us who will teach us what secrets do to our lives and how we can move forward. We’ll have homework every week, so you’ll be journaling and playing along with us. We’ll have an online community where you can connect with like-minded people who are going through the same thing. We’ll be able to work on this together and I’ll be there all the way. I know you can get there too. To that place where you feel lighter and freer in a way that you never knew was possible.
