How do you start sharing your secret? to begin healing. Many people wan’t to be free from their secret and the burden but there is so much shame and stigma attached it can take great vulnerability which is scary. There is nothing more terrifying than those 3 little words. I have … I have herpes I have HIV I have been sexually abused I was raped. I have depression I have bipolar. What ever it is for you, I know how terrifying it can be, the very idea of sharing can fill you with fear. I understand because I was there once too. What I can tell you is that, that FEAR is not real. When you start sharing the healing begins and the freedom comes. It’s so worth it, but I do put that with a warning as there will be people who are not ok with your secret, as they have their own issues and stuff going on that this can trigger in them. So yes a warning label comes with my advise. Be careful with who you first trust to open up to, that you share with safe people. But ‘there reaction to your secret, says nothing about you and everything about them’. So here are a few 1st steps. - You need to be ok with you. Know that you love yourself unconditionally. - Find somewhere safe to test the waster opening up and sharing with - Find community & support groups with people who share your story.
