We didn't have far to travel from our spot at Lake Pukaki. Just a short drive away was our next freedom camping spot high up, overlooking Lake Ruataniwha. It's 4.5km long and was artificially formed in 1977-81 to maintain levels for a canal leading to Ohau B & C Power Stations.
