We knew that when we bought Knot Vanilla we would need a windlass installed. We decided to go with a Lewmar Pro Fish 1000 windlass. Here is or DIY video showing how we mounted it to our deck. Took alot of prep work and reinforcement to get her deck solid enough to hold it. But all the work is done now, and it's such a great feeling to do a DIY windlass install on our sailboat.
