And in the name of science & entertainment, I donated my curly hair for an experiment, applying livon on my curly hair. What is livon? Livon was launched in 2003 as India's first leave-in conditioner for untangling hair, it’s a silicone predominant formula and it was truly first of its kind in India, And everyone loved it! And so their company product portfolio grew, there are creams, livon gel and serums and many people love these products for the convenience and price The problem? Mostly, livon is antithetical to curly hair care, curly hair needs moisture and care and livon does more of masking the dryness rather than actually moisturizing the hair strand so most of the curly hair people would not really use it, especially the crowd that follows curly girl routine religiously and tries to avoid silicones like the plague. But as you know, I love trying out new products and figuring out easy and quick ways to style curly hair, I used livon for 3 weeks in different ways and I wanted to share my honest and unbiased opinion on it. The first try, for the first try, I applied livon on damp hair, like I used to do when I was a teen and and it helped the keeping the comb running smoothly on my hair, I made sure to not get it anywhere close to my scalp because its monsoons and I don’t want to deal with that situation. And I actually shot me applying this and as you can see, the hair was very limp, it did not give me any definition and it almost made my hair look 10 % better than what it was before. And 2 out of 10, would not recommend this on damp hair for curly hair. So the next time I applied Livon on my curly hair was like I apply an actual leave in, I wanted to see if the application of it on dripping wet hair, changed anything and it did! You can clearly see that my hair looks way more defined and curled in the second trial and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. How long did it last? Well to be honest I didn’t expect my hair to stay in place because I didnt use any hair gel and obviously it didn’t stay In place just as I predicted, by the second day, all my curls were open and the hair was back to looking like a huge mistake. But to be honest I don’t expect a serum to give my hair any cast because it cant, its not in its nature. One of the biggest pros according to me is convenience If you are traveling nationally and cant carry many products or just don’t want to invest a lot in curly hair in an emergency, this seems like an okay thing to do. Given that there are many leave in conditioners now that do the same thing but with actual added benefits but I am looking at livon in a bubble here. The second pro is that my hair did not feel weighed down at all, it felt as lite as it is and the curls also felt more flowy rather than ringlets so you could see that as pro or con, but for me it’s a pro considering the current weather, I don’t mind something extremely light. Con Well it does nothing for your hair, its just a product that you are filling your strands with. There are many other products available to curly hair people that have added benefits and might be a bit more expesive than livon but provided added benefits. Another cons is how dry my hair feels on the third day and all the other days leading from that, it feels like almost I don’t have anything in my hair and so it’s a bit anti climactic. All in all I think livon does exactly what it claims to do sadly for someone like me with curly hair, we want more and so it doesn’t really cut it, the competition has increased exponentially for livon but i say this in every video that each product in the market works for someone, I might not be that someone but that doesn’t make the product wrong, just makes it not right for me.
