@Online Korean Storybook 13: Holding Poop at Night
Written by Lee Choon Hee | Illustrated by Sim Eun Sook Gil-nam woke his brother up because he needed some poop. He was too scared to go to the toilet outside the house alone. So mom taught them how to break the habit of pooping at night. The custom, holding poop at night, shows the humor and wisdom of old people about the toilet training for their children. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Online Korean Storybook] - Recommended for Ages 6 to 10 Korean Cultural Center is pleased to present the Online Korean Storybook, ‘GookShiGgoRengEe Village’ series in collaboration with the Safari Publishers. The ‘GookShiGgoRengEe Village (국시꼬랭이 동네)’ series is written by Korean writer Lee Choon Hee and directed by Lim Jae Hae, about the forgotten stories from traditional Korean Culture. This series is a place where the stories of Korean children in the past are still alive with vivid traces of their laughter and tears. They may appear small and in comparison to the fancy extravagant culture at the center of all the attention, therefore the village has gathered to take notice and care for the nostalgic aspects of our culture. Today, our children go back and forth from school to other varieties of extra-curricular activities, and play with computers and televisions. There were days when children would freely run around through the mountains and fields, eating and playing with the flowers and the grass they would pick up along the way. Their imagination did not cease to grow as they played in the evening under the moonlight by stepping on the shadows that the moon provided for them, and by counting the stars in the sky. This series would like to become a stepping stone to re-connect the children of today with the past by restoring the often forgotten beauties of traditional Korean culture.
