We came during Alexandria Restaurant week and really enjoyed their $35 three-course dinner! We got to pick an appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts. We got the samosa, chicken tikka masala, fish curry (cod fish), Indian rice pudding, and cardamom ice cream. We got a couple glasses of mango lassi to start. The mango lassi was great and it went so well with our meal. It was not too sweet, the texture and the amount of ice were just right. The samosas were stuffed with potato, onion, and Indian spices. They were two gigantic pieces of samosas, so they did fill us up a little and we got to take home lots of leftover from our entrees. :D We have to point out the fish curry. It was AMAZING - the cod fish just melted in our mouth and the curry sauce was creamy and buttery, it was perfect with rice and naan that were both provided in our meal. According to their website, fish curry is one of their specialty dishes. It absolutely is! The chicken tikka masala was very delicious too - the sauce was thick and creamy, we also loved the tomatoes and green peppers that were added in the masala. Three side dishes came along with our entrees: black lentils, sour cucumber with yogurt, and mango chutney. The black lentils were mild and plain, and it went well with the naan. The yogurt was quite sour and it was very appetizing. Lastly, it was our first time trying mango chutney, so we were a bit surprised by its sourness. It tasted more like pieces of dried mango pickles (maybe that's what it is?!), but it was still delicious and added a bit of citrus to our creamy entrees! Finally, the Indian rice pudding was quite interesting - yellow soupy rice pudding mixed with raisins, pieces of mandarine skin (or dried fruit skin), nuts, and we swear we could taste the Indian spice that's in their typical curry dishes. Sweet and you can definitely tell it's an Indian dessert from its smell! The cardamom ice cream was probably the most intriguing out of all the food we had. It was our first time trying cardamom ice cream. While the server told us it was pistachio ice cream, we thought it tasted exactly like ginger flavored ice cream, at the same time it was milky and a bit gooey. This was quite a refreshing and unique ending to our meal. Can't describe in words how much we enjoyed our dinner at Bombay! P.S. Big shout-out to our very polite, nice, and professional server who explained to us what each dish was, and gave us an extra glass of mango lassi! :) Parking: Street parking with 1-2 hour limit except for weekends.
