Actually it is a part of ancient silk route which started from Tamralipta port, passed through trekking and dangerous routes of Himalaya towards Lahsa of Tibet, and then got connected with Western Asian - East European part via China. East Sikkim was a part of that Silk Route. Here now a days, travelers start from Siliguri / NJP of West Bengal. Pass via Kalimpong , , , , and reach upto Nathula gate of Indian Part. To complete this route you may choose to Visit or Changu Lake and move to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. In this route you will find beautiful lakes like or Tsamgo Memencho etc. One of the motivational point is or babajikabankar . Beautiful or Kanchajunga will accompany through out the journey . It will take 5-7 days to complete. You can choose to return back from Tsamgo lake or move towards Gangtok. Best time to visit is November-December, though December can be extremely cool. But can visit always except monsoon time. Nearest Rail head: NJP Bus Stop: Siliguri Airport: Bagdogra International Airport: Kolkata or CCU Route map: Siliguri - Kalimpong - Rishikhola - Aritar - Phadamchen - Zuluk - Baba Ji ka Banker - Nathula Gate - TSamgo Lake - Gangtok - NJP/Bagdogra . Or Siliguri - Kalimpong - Rishikhola - Aritar - Phadamchen - Zuluk- Baba Ji ka Banker - Nathula Gate - TSamgo Lake - Gangtok Places of interest: Kalimpong, Rishikhola, Phadamchen, Aritar Buddha Gumfa, Lake, Ice covered road will start from Phadamchen, Zuluk, Nathang Valley, Baba ji ka banker or Baba Mandir, Kupup Lake, Tsamgo Lake Inner Line Permit is required for Indian citizen and for foreigner it is mandatory to get special permission to visit maximum part of this places.
