Kpop Lens's video: NCT U merch Mocks ISLAMIC CULTURE NCT 2022 CULTURAL APPROPRIATION

@NCT U merch Mocks ISLAMIC CULTURE | NCT 2022 CULTURAL APPROPRIATION
SM's boy group, NCT's sub unit NCT U has embroiled in yet another controversy regarding their merchandises. It appropriates Islamic culture, as per the fans. Fans have been tweeting the hashtag , quickly after the merchandises dropped for their recent release, NCT U's "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)". Pins and popup displays showcase the islamic mosque. Fans are taking issue with the merch’s mosque designs and the ornate cube that closely resembles The Kaaba. The Kaaba is a sacred place of worship, located in Islam’s most important mosque, the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. Unfortunately enough, this isn't the first time they are on the hot waters for the release of the song. The stage props and sets for the music video and live stages / performances of "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)" has been criticized for resembling mosques. During one stage, a backdrop featured text from a sacred Muslim prayer. On Twitter, fans are expressing their frustration with SM Entertainment, demanding an apology for the “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)” concept, and asking for the agency to educate themselves about cultural appropriation. Some fans are also asking others to help trend to help them call attention to the ongoing issue. "Religion is not an aesthetic". Moreover, they were also under fire for cultural appropriation and allegedly mocking Indian culture. The group’s cultural appropriation of Indian culture has come to the forefront once more for their latest performance on MNET‘s MCountdown. At the end of their stage, the members waved goodbye to fans. Taeyong then put his thumbs and pointer fingers together as he rolled his head in what appeared to be an imitation of Indian dancing, followed by Xiaojun and Shotaro. Needless to say, Indian fans were very upset upon seeing this. Subscribe to our youtube channel to get the latest kpop news and don't forget to hit the bell icon to know when we upload next.
