We return! Replay of Story Missions 1-4! Then some Bloody Palace Runs w/ Nero and Dante! I’m not great with Nero, but I’m downright terrible with Dante! Finally, some sitting around looking through the appendix/story notes/concept art/etc and enthusiastic, yet level-headed constructive criticism of some asinine plot/gameplay decisions. Capcom fanboys beware. Also, some reasons that Vergil is the awesome true hero coolbro and Dante (though still awesome) is actually kind of a jerk. Will we complete Missions 1-4? (Yes.) Will we ‘totes flex on Goliath + Artemis’? Will we even survive the first 20 Floors of Bloody Palace? Will Kyle forget that you fight Big Boy Goliath again on Floor 20? (Yes) Also, just saying- did Vergil deserve more? (Yes. Just saying...) ...like his normal Devil Trigger? (YES.) ...or a better story? (YES.) ...or an even better, expanded story for SE/DLC? (YES.) ...or virtually any additional story for SE/DLC aside from a bit of random dialogue that actually makes it worse? (YES.) ...or a new ‘Devil Sword Vergil’ or ‘Awakened’ Yamato or a way to temporarily power it up by charging it with Summoned Sword (which for literally no reason is suddenly called ‘Mirage Blade’) ‘energy’ kind of like Ichigo from Bleach (since DMC is obviously cool with taking slight ‘inspiration’ from other franchises like how Nero and Vergil have JoJo Stands, Dante is basically Vash from Trigun with more edgelord and two guns aka Alucard from Hellsing, and Nero’s DT is virtually identical to Vasto Lorde Ichigo- same VA, even- from BLEACH...just saying...) or a lot of ‘magic sword guy’ characters do- kind of like Dante’s Overdrive move- even though the whole ‘magic energy’ stuff isn’t Dante’s ‘thing’, it’s actually one of Vergil’s signatures, and to an extent one of Yamato’s powers, which Dante and even deadweight dingus Nero were able to use when wielding Yamato, and oh right the exact same Overdrive move can also be performed by VERGIL- without Yamato- and he can apparently create a permanent new Force Edge out of ‘magic energy stuff’ that just sits on his back until he needs it because ‘reasons’, which come to think of it, he can charge up with even more ‘magic energy stuff’ and use to perform the exact same Overdrive move- so, according to the game’s own established, current lore, it is not only entirely plausible and in character for Vergil to think “I should do that with Yamato, because it’s cool, and it’s MORE POWER(!!!)”- it is entirely, absolutely, utterly implausible and out of character for Vergil to NOT make use of a totally obvious, totally cool, and totally MORE POWER(!!!) thing that he can clearly accomplish with virtually no effort, as Vergil’s job is quite literally: 1. Be cool. 2. “MORE POWER(!!) - and you best believe it is a job which Vergil performs with the utmost enthusiasm and success. Name one person who is better at being cool and “MORE POWER” than Vergil. Guess what- you cant. Because no such person exists in fiction, nonfiction, or otherwise. You know how long it took me to come up with that? I can type very quickly, so like, five minutes. Or less. And I wasn’t even trying. And I’m not a smart man. And in all likelihood, no one will ever even read this. And I sure as all hell ain’t getting paid for this. Zero effort, under five minutes, one not too sharp ‘just some guy’ from the internets figured this out. That’s a low bar. But I guess Capcom can’t be bothered. I’M JUST SAYING...
