Kyoto Legend's video: Kifune Kibune jinjya shrine

Kifune jinjya is situated at the source of Kamo river, hence, it has been worshipped as deity of water that is very precious for daily life for people in Kyoto. According to the shrine legend, it is said that Tama-yori-hime no Mikoto sailed up on a yellow boat from Osaka Bay and enshrined the deity at the current position of Okumiya approximately 1,600 years ago. The shrine is in the deep mountains which has a mystical atmosphere. You will feel purified just by visiting here. The sacred water flows out from the stone walls of the shrine building in front of the main shrine located at the foot of Mt. Kibune. The spring water which is cold in summer and warm in winter is perennially springing out to the precincts even now. Many people visit this shrine from far away to appreciate this mystical water. Yuino Yashiro Shrine has been renowned as the deity of matchmaking. An episode has been reported that Izumi Shikibu, a female Japanese poetess in the Heian period visited this temple anguishing that her husband had a change of heart, and then they became happily married.
