The 'Theru' carts or the chariot ceremony is held on the day which usually falls on a full moon day. The statues of Lord Murugan, Sivan Ambal, Shri Ganeshan, Shandeshulary and Goddess Pattini are kept in five beautifully illuminated and decorated chariots drawn by devotees, both Hindus and Buddhists, are taken along the streets in the day time. The feeble and the sick who cannot visit the kovil to offer 'poojas' are believed to be visited by Goddess Pattini at their door-step. Long ago before the chariots were made the statues of gods were taken around the kovil premises on the shoulders of the devotees. Later the Hindus with the help of Buddhists, Muslims and Christians collected funds to build a chariot to take Goddess Pattini around the streets. Later three more chariots were added now there are five chariots. The Hindus and Buddhists in the town decorate their houses and shops with traditional decorations like banana and arecanut plants, mango leaves and 'gokkola'. Taking the five 'Theru' carts out of the kovil premises to parade along the streets and bringing them back to the kovil are regarded as highly religious and sacred ritualistic performances. Kovil Management Board said that to conduct these holy rituals of this festival, highly educated religious dignitaries have been appointed by the board and a religious ceremonies are being conducted according to the Hindu traditions and age-old customs. Every event is done according to the auspicious time. This 'Theru' festival of Muthumari Amman Kovil in Matale is a symbol of unity among Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and Christians. ஜம்பட்டா வீதி அருள்மிகு ஸ்ரீ முனீஸ்வரர் முத்துமாரி அம்பாள் தேவஸ்தான வருடாந்த திருவிழா 2023 කොළඹ ජම්පටා පාර අරුල්මිකු ශ්‍රී මුනීස්වරර් මුතුමාරි අම්බාල් දේවස්ථානයේ වාර්ෂික උත්සවය 2023 දේව භක්තිය උතුරා යන කොළොම්පුරයේ ශ්‍රී මුනීස්වරර් මුතුමාරි අම්බාල් දේවස්ථානයේ රථෝත්සවය කොළඹ නගරය හින්දු බැතිමතුන්ගෙන් පිරී ඉතිරී යන වර්ණවත් සහ ඉතා අලංකාර උත්සවයක් ලෙස රථ උත්සවය හැඳින්විය හැකියි. කෝවිලේ දෛනික පූජා කටයුතු වලට අමතරව වාර්ෂික තියෙන විශාලම ආගමික උත්සවය වන්නේ කෝවිලේ තේරු පෙරහැරයි. අශ්ව රථ පෙළපාළිය සමඟ පොල් ගසමින්, දීප්තිමත් ඇඳුමින් සැරසුණු බැතිමතුන් කපුරු දල්වමින්, තරුණ තරුණියන්ගේ කාවඩි නර්තනයෙන් දමිළ හින්දු ප්‍රජාවගේ අනෙකුත් ආගමික හා සංස්කෘතික ලක්ෂණ බොහෝ සෙයින් ඔවුන්ගේ කෝවිල් බිත්ති පිටුපසින් වෙනුවට කොළඹ වීථි දිගේ ගමන් කරමින් ප්‍රදර්ශනය කිරීම සාමාන්‍ය සිරිතයි. පත්තිනි මෑණියන් මුල්කර ගනිමින් මෙහි ආගමික වතාවත් සිදු කරන අතර සිංහල, දමිළ හා මුස්ලිම් ජාතීන්ගෙන් නිරන්තර වැදුම් පිදුම් ලබන දේවස්ථානයක් ලෙද ප්‍රචලිතව තිබේ. බැතිමතුන් විශාල පිරිසක් කාවඩි රැගෙන පෙරහරට සම්බන්ධ වන අතර වේල් රථය අදින පිරිස් සහ සෙසු බැතිමතුන් පෙරහරේ “හරෝ හරා” ලෙස හඬ නගා ගායනා කරමින් ගමන් කරති. මෝලම් බෙරකරුවන්ගේ වාදනයන් පෙරහරට ඉතා ජවයක් හා බලගැන්වීමක් එකතු කරන අතර ඇතැමුන් ආරූඩයෙන් නටන්නට පටන් ගන්නේ ඇඟට නොදැනීමය. තවත් භක්තිකයින් දෙවියන්ට පලතුරු පූජාවට්ටි හෝ මල් පූජා කරති. ඇතැම්හු කිරි කළ හිස මත තබාගෙන ගොස් තම භක්තිය පිළිබිඹු කරති. බොහෝ අය තම බලාපොරොත්තු, වැඩ කටයුතු සාර්ථකව ඉටු කරගැනීම සඳහා එවැනි සිදුරු සිදු කරමින් දෙවියන්ට කන්නලව් කරති. ඔවුන්ගේ අපරිමිත දේව විශ්වාසය සම්ප්‍රදායන් වසර දහස් ගණනක් පුරා සිදුවෙමින් පවතින අතර මිනිසුන් විසින් විවිධ දේව ඇදහිලි ක්‍රම සංකේතවත් කිරීම් පිණිස මෙම පිළිවෙත් යොදාගත් බව ආගමික විශ්වාසයයි. කොළඹ අරුල්මිගු ශ්‍රී මුතුකුමාරි අම්මාන් කෝවිල
