This annual tournament, which was instituted in the 1934-35 season, has never been cancelled so far. There were a lot of speculations over the tournament happening this year and even recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President - , had stated that he was all for the Ranji Trophy happening and that efforts were on to plan for it. However, today it has come to light that the BCCI has decided to scrap this year's Ranji Trophy, which consists of multi-day matches (4 or 5 days depending on the stage of the tournament)!
