Laila Biali's video: LAILA BIALI - Heart of Gold trio cover :: Live at The Jazz Room

This day (April 8) 47 years ago (1972), Neil Young's single "Heart of Gold" hit the No. 1 spot on radio across Canada and the U.S. His album, Harvest, also topped the charts and was ultimately the best-selling record that year in the U.S. In 2005, "Heart of Gold" was named the third greatest Canadian song of all time by CBC Radio. My arrangement explores the elements of this fundamentally Canadian song within a Jazz context. It isn't meant to challenge Neil Young fans or folk music purists, but rather to introduce his music to Jazz appreciators and maybe even bring the worlds of Jazz and Folk closer together.
