The 1984 season ended on a bad note for Magic Johnson. Not only did his team lose in a tough 7-game series to the Boston Celtics and his rival Larry Bird but he made several crucial mistakes that many people believe cost the Lakers the title. The next year was all about redemption for the Magic Man and after another tough loss to Boston on a Kevin McHale game winner, the contest that took place at the Forum became a must-win situation for the Lakers. Magic was up for the challenge as he came out aggressive in the 1st quarter knocking down jumpers & on many occasions matching Bird shot for shot.
