Kepolisian RI mengancam bakal membubarkan seluruh kegiatan Front Persatuan Islam (FPI) di semua daerah yang mulai mendeklarasikan organisasi tersebut. Kepala Biro Penerangan Masyarakat Mabes Polri Brigadir Jenderal Rusdi Hartono menyatakan bahwa FPI sudah tak memiliki legalitas dan payung hukum, sehingga pemerintah, dalam hal ini polisi, diperbolehkan untuk membubarkan organisasi itu setiap kali melakukan kegiatan di setiap wilayah.
