Latin Guitar Mastery's video: How to memorise music

@How to memorise music
Also Watch: "Spanish Ballad Guitar Tutorial" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6prXekN3XY --~-- Here are a few ideas about memorising music. 1. One of the most common ways of memorizing music is to play music over and over. Eventually you will retain how to play the music by shear force of repetition. Some people call it muscular memory. I've come to learn recently that it's not your muscles that remember but it is in fact its stored as neural pathways in your brain. Memorising is as match about recall as it is about retention. We often remember things better when we learn can connect it to something we are already familiar with. 2. Use visualisation to test your recall. Rather than just testing your memory through playing, you can imagine yourself playing. This helps to bring your paling into a more mindful, focussed state. If you can;t remember exactly what you are supposed to be playing you can stop and check. This is probably the best tool that I have learned to assist me with memorising. 3. Be mindful and concentrate. Try and practice mindfully. Have an aim or objective for why you rate practicing and try and stay present when you are practicing. Stay engaged in the music and what your hands and body is doing. Ask questions and be mindful of negative head talk. 4. Break your piece down into sections. You should be doing this to some degree when practicing but you can take the idea further by cutting the pice in to 4 bar sections. You can choose to learn the phrases consecutively or put them in a random order. I've read they use this method in some top music boot camps in the US. 5. Analyse the music and focus on the small details. This will help your mind form more connections relating to the piece. Can you answer questions regarding: tempo musical context and history articulation dynamics keys and modulations voicing and harmny 6. Write out the music. 7. Transcribe into a different key. 8. Try and play the music on a different instrument.
